Nasal congestion and sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses) brought on by allergies, hay fever, and the common cold are treated with brompheniramine and phenylpropanolamine.
An antihistamine is brompheniramine. It combats the histamine that your body produces naturally. Brompheniramine helps to prevent sneezing, runny or itchy nose, itchy eyes, and other hay fever and allergy symptoms. Decongestant phenylpropanolamine is used. It causes blood vessels (veins and arteries) to tighten (shrink). This decreases blood flow to specific places and opens up the nasal passageways.
